Graduate Assistantships

Many of our incoming MAPR students receive partial funding (10 or 20 hour positions) through the Department of Psychology's Graduate Instructional Assistant appointments. Please note: you do not need to do anything to apply for these GIA positions; you are automatically considered as part of each incoming class cohort.

To be considered for an appointment, applications for the MAPR program must be completed by the priority deadline. Courses which typically qualify for GIAs are Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Statistics, Experimental Design and Research Methods, Human Sexuality, Lifespan Development, Professional Seminar, and History & Theory. Duties vary by instructor but may include attending lectures, supervising labs, holding office hours, maintaining student records.

With experience as a GIA, you may apply to teach sections of Introduction to Statistics lab and will be designated as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
