MAPR Research Support

Belonging and Cohesion MAPR Research Support

The Department of Psychology at Texas State University is seeking applications for up to $500 in funding for MAPR students. This funding is designed to support student research and the funds should be used to cover costs directly related to conducting research. To be eligible to receive this research funding, you must be a current MAPR student who has completed at least two semesters of the MAPR program. While all applications will be considered, those with the following attributes will be given special consideration: a) the applicant has previously applied for research funding, though has not necessarily been awarded previous funding; b) the research project is relevant to belonging/cohesion or has a positive impact on a community, including underrepresented communities for which there is a lack of research; c) there is evidence of excellence in prior research that is relevant to belonging/cohesion or has a positive impact on a community.

MAPR students wishing to apply for this funding opportunity must submit the following:

  • A current vita
  • A 1-page project description that includes the study’s significance, research questions, design (including sample justification), and relevance to belonging/cohesion or positive impact on a community if applicable
  • A line-item budget, up to 1-page (note this does not need to be a full page)
  • Either the IRB approval letter for the proposed study or a letter of commitment to secure IRB approval. Note that IRB approval will need to be secured before funds can be disbursed.
  • A brief letter of support from the Department of Psychology faculty sponsor of this project indicating that the faculty member has full knowledge of this study and agrees with the necessity of these funds for the execution of this study. If previous funding has been applied for, the faculty sponsor should also indicate this in their letter. Unlike traditional letters of recommendation, this letter of support does not need to exceed a single paragraph.

There are two funding cycles each year for this award. The deadline for the first cycle is July 15th and the deadline for the second cycle is September 1st. If you would like to apply, please follow the link below to the application form.
